The post office is open M-F, 8:30-2:30 (closed on federal holidays).

Motorists, please park in the rear and access us through the courtyard.

Please check the CALENDAR to be sure there is no school field trip or tour scheduled on the day you want to visit. The museum and library are closed on those days.

The library displays paintings depicting the dangers of mail delivery in the Arizona Territory and rotates exhibits in the display case.

Our premiere philatelic library can help you with your research of stamps and postal history. We also receive journals that can keep you in the philatelic know!

Use our post office

Our post office is the only philatelic sales facility in all of Arizona. We are also the only postal outlet in the state that receives almost all new stamp issues.​​

Buy collectibles

Our philatelic store offers U.S. and worldwide stamps (mint and used), covers, postcards, and other collectibles, as well as stamp collecting supplies.​​

Get a guided tour

We offer pre-scheduled group tours guided by staff or volunteers who provide context for the displays and explain the inner workings of our complex stamp sorting process.

How much does it cost to visit?

Admission is FREE! Admission includes the mini-museum, the post office, the philatelic store, and the library. You can visit any or all of these departments.

Please do consider a monetary donation or Postal History Foundation membership. We are completely funded through membership, monetary gifts, and library and museum grants. We receive no state funding. It is up to generous people like you to keep us going!

How do I get there?

We are located in the historic West University neighborhood, just southwest of the Speedway and Euclid intersection.

Though our building is located on 1st avenue, Tucsonans who are familiar with our streets should know that this part of 1st avenue is not the large street you are used to! It is the smaller, continuation of 1st avenue after the “big” 1st avenue turns into Euclid.

The driveway leading to the rear parking lot is on the south side of the building. It is a single lane, so drive carefully.

The entrance to the courtyard that leads to the main and library buildings’ entrances is accessed from the parking lot.

What is the ease of access / accommodations for people with disabilities?

The library building has the most seating and room for wheelchairs and walkers to maneuver. It also has the most wheelchair-friendly restroom. The main building has far less seating, but does have room to accommodate walkers and wheelchairs in most spaces. By the nature of the stamp processing workflow, there is less room in the main building to maneuver due to the various workstations. The street (front) entrance to the main building has a ramp access. The courtyard (back) entrance is mostly flat ground. We have no electronic doors.

Anything else to know before visiting?

If you are arriving in a group larger than four people, please call ahead. We do not have the personnel to provide guided tours without advanced notice.

Consult the our calendar (schedule of events) before your visit, regardless of party size. If there is a large tour or children’s field trip scheduled, please consider coming at another time. The library, especially, is completely inaccessible when a field trip is scheduled.
