The Post Office – an institution with specialized roles, equipment, and procedures – has significantly participated in the development of the U.S. and impacted the lives of its people. Take a look at all the ways the post office has affected the growth of the country, particularly in the Old West.

In the late 1960s and early 1970s, our organization, then known as the Western Postal History Museum, commissioned artist Cal Peters to create five paintings and five dioramas to depict the dangers of early mail delivery.
